i placed the CD into my harddrive, and it says that i need to have Service Pack 4. and i downloaded it but it said that it's not working. can someone please help me?

These instructions are assuming you've already installed SP41. You'll need to uninstall itunes and the ipod updater if they're already on your computer.
2. restart
3. go here (http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/) and download itunes 4.5
4. install
5. restart
6. go here (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93786) , read the info and then get the ipod updater you'll need
7. install it
8. restart
