Trouble converting WMA to MP3!
Hi, im new to this forum and so I think this is the right place. Firstly my 3rd Generation 40GB iPod came yesterday, I have been trying to convert WMA files to MP3 files using I think DC amp but I am not sure about that, I can clarify once I get to my home computer, any way converting my own CD files into MP3 files was not a problem but my brothers laptop music that he had put onto the desktop refuses to convert and I think this is because the content is protected by the licenses but I am not sure. Does anyone have any ideas about this? Another thing does iTunes convert WMA into MP3? And does it play WMA files? Many thanks for reading and please help me as I want to put the music onto my iPod ASAP,
If any other software gets around this problem that is easy to use please can you recommend this to me (hopefully it being free :)) thanks!

iTunes 4.5 converts *.WMA files (I think to AAC).
However, this is only unprotected files. Protected ones won't work.

I have got iTunes 4.5 but it refuses to play WMA files for some reason, any idea how to convert protected files anyone? Thanks

You can't convert protected .wmas. That's the whole point of protected files... you can't make them unprotected. :D
You could, however, burn them as Audio CDs, and then Import the audio CD's to iTunes... This would not be very convinient, though. ;)

Hi, thanks for all the help guys, just to tell you I managed to solve my problem by using AED tool 1.062 I think, this even cracks the protected files which is great!!!
Another question is about iTunes, can you get it to play specific albums or is it limited to just all of them, I know you can create playlists to use the albums but is there any quicker way? Thanks alot for all the help! Alex

Hi, the iPod plays MP3's and AAC's, it is best to play Mp3's as it is the most common, you shouldn't worry about it but when you copy future CD's you should try copying them in MP3 format, I hope this helps, Alex
Most Music downloads are in Mp3 format which is the best!
