General question

i was just recently hit by a nasty virus that wiped out everything in my computer even my itunes library with over 2500 songs...but i have all the songs on my ipod... now if i hook my ipod up to the new library i have downloaded "that is blank" will this erase my ipod since i have nothing in my itunes library or will it bring in all my songs on my ipod?/

i have seen some ipod/itunes ads (including the ad with barry white) in the music video section of the itunes music store. unfortunately, i don't have itunes on my work computer so i can't tell you where exactly to look.
