Problems burning a CD

I tried to burn a CD with the songs in iTunes, some of which are from my own CDs and others I purchased from iTunes. It seems to work, but then when I play it in a CD player, nothing but noise. Can someone help me with this? Thanks.

Hi, could you please give us some more detail on what steps you actually took?

Check Edit>Preferences in iTunes and in the "Burning" tab, make sure you have "Audio CD" selected as the disc format.

Hi ginalee and TommyT,

I am not home so I cannot tell you exactly what I do, but I pretty much follow what it says to do. More importantly, I make sure that I have "Audio CD" selected as the disc format. This is why I don't know what I can be doing wrong.
