Garbled playback on imported tracks
Hi, I d/loaded iTunes for the first time yesterday and it looks like a great product however I am having a major problem.
I can import tracks no problem at all but when they playback they are garbled - almost sounds like a jumping record. it's almost like they have some sort of copy protection on. I hope this is something simple to fix. I have tried two different cd/dvd drives - I've checked one of the drives for firmware updates and I'm now running out of ideas - can anyone help?

What bitrate/format are you encoding to?
Have you reinstalled Quicktime 6.5.1 (Standalone)?

I've tried both mp3 and aac encoder. And I've just d/loaded Quick time at the same time as iTunes so it should be the latest version.

You can try going into the QuickTime preferences (not iTunes) and setting the output to "WavOut". This has fixed problems for a lot of people similar to what you describe.

Solved it! I had downloaded a product called Total Recorder a few months
back. Uninstalled it and everything is fine now. Now to rip those cds...
