iTunes Library Auto-Update Across Network?

Hi everybody,

I run the computers at the college radio station here, and I want to be able to rip songs to a folder on one computer (the MP3 archive for the station) and have iTunes on the DJ computer (in another room via a wired network) automatically add those new songs to its library. Has anyone ever done this?

Thanks!
Ian

The only network support iTunes has is the automatic streaming feature over Rendezvous... It won't support network-ed libraries.

Even if you made your iTunes Music Library folder be a network location, the DJ computer would not auto-update, as iTunes doesn't "watch folders" for new additions.

You could easily *stream* from the MP3 Library computer to the DJ computer, but the DJ wouldn't be able to create any playlists. eek!

I'm a big iTunes fan (and don't have much experience with MC9/10), but I think J. River Media Center 9 or 10 would be a bit better for something like what you'd like to do.
