Mediocre Sound Quality
Ok, heres the lowdown, I got an Ipod mini and my brothers friggin' 1999 3inch thick phillips cd player sounds better, and yes, I am using same earbuds (ex71), and yes, the same song file thats even MORE compressed since when you mkae an audio cd i t converts it to cd format, and yes, I have tried all the EQ's and such.
His cd player has better treble and MUCH bettter bass. I listen to rap/hip hop so bass is a must, and the Ipod mini has little to no bass at all, even with the bass booster and hip hop eq on the bass is still low and in a bass heavy song it sounds distorted, so heres my question.....
could it be that I got a messed up Ipod or is it just that all Ipods are bass devoid and have 2nd rate sound quality, and if mine is messed up, will apple fix it just cuz I say it has mediocre sounda quality. Thanks you for your help.
PS: The battery only lasts like 4 hours w/o backlight, is that a problem too?

Your ipod mini seems not to be functioning as it should, i really would suggest taking it into an Apple store close to you so they can check out and see if it's working - if it is not they'll be kind and replacment.
I think the sound quality is very good, but i'm not that much of an AudioPhile

I hage no idea what your talking about. I thought it sounded great with the stock earphones, then I got some E2c's and woah, I was shocked by how good the sound was. The mini has great treble and bass and, I also listen to rap/hiphop and Alternative music.
