How do I rebuild database?

I recently reinstalled windows and when I went to add songs to my ipod for the first time since I reistalled windows, itunes automatically updated my ipod( I had forgoten to remove the option) and since I only had 3 albums on itunes it added those 3 albums and wrote over the others. Now I cant access the other 300+ albums I had, I tried rebuilding the DB with ephpod but it actually deleted some of the songs on those 3 albums I could see.

If I go to settings then about it says:
capacity 37.1 GB
available 16 GB

so the music is still there how do I rebuild it?

also ho wdo I make itunes not update my ipod automatically

Sorry but i think you've lost the 300+ albums you had on there for good. I think its easier to set your ipod to manual update then you don't have to worry about unfortunate accidents such as this. You're going to just have to put all your music back on it yourself.

to set your ipod to manual hook it up to itunes then go to ipod options, its a little symbol that looks like your ipod in the bottom right of the itunes window, near eject etc. You should find an option that says something like allow me to organise updating ipod manually, or along those lines, click the box and your set. Now when you attach you ipod to your comp you won't get all the songs (or not) in your library updated to ipod

yeah unfortunately I had to restore the iPod, but the weird thing is that when I went to set it to manual update the option was already on

good thing that the firewire connection makes the upload so fast, but I had production credits on my ipod for some albums and now I have to do that all over again
