Battery Life

OK, I have been reading that the battery can last between 18 months and a few years. Apple states that it is designed to last the lifetime of the iPod but it gets about 500 charge cycles. Those are full charge cycles, I think. My question is, if I don't let the battery completly drain, and charge it every day, then will that make the lifetime of the battery increase. I am not letting my battery completly drain, maybe get 1/2 down. Will this increase the lifetime of the battery?

No one give you definite answer also, because a lot of ipodders are looking for that answer also, dont worry much about the battery, just keep using your iPod to the fullest.

But, you don't hear a lot of G1 er G2 users c/o battery failure. So..... maybe they last even longer?? Wishful thinking?

Apple has a "Caring for the Ipod Battery" page here. ( http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61385)

Right, thanks everyone. I've checked the Apple website and even called Apple. They could not give me an answer, I just told them what I said. It seems like common sence, if the battery is never drained completely then it does not count as a full charging cycle. I use my iPod without any worries, if the battery does happend to mess up (knocks on wood) then Best Buy will either replace the battery in the unit (send it off to Apple and I pay nothing) or give me a new unit. I charge my iPod 3 times a week because the battery is 1/2 or 5/6 used. I was just speculating and pondering on the whole battery thing.
