How Big Is Your Collection

Just out of interest how big is your collection, how many files and at what rate are they encoded? Also how many full albums encoded straight from CDs?

27,543 (98% MP3) as of today and believe or not over 95% are legal - I been collecting and burning for about 4 years, including hours transfering from vinyl. Also approximately 14,000 OTR (old time radio shows in MP3). The combined collestions are archived on cd/dvd data discs.

Lots of jazz, classical, blues, swing, rock, world, dance, electronica, but...no country - just my choice.

Bit rates vary, but for old mono originals (30's, 40's stuff), 96/44, for other stuff - jazz usually at 160/44, classical 256/44 or 320/44 and 128 or VBR for common stuff.

Of course I can't listen to it all, but let me tell you, whatever mood I'm in - I've got the music for it :-)

313 songs, although iTunes says my library has 314 tracks because I have one radio station in it.

2064 songs. However, some of these are the same songs from different albums, so I'm guessing about 2040 actual different songs.

Under 2000, BUT all but a couple hundred old R & R, an' about 150 Classical pieces, there are 350 audiobooks, so... the normal HDD space is occupied by fewer files. Clear as mud, right?

Around 3300 songs encoded in 128kbps mp3. I ripped them all from my 200 or so CD collection. A few I purchased from iTunes Music Store. 100% legal!
