URGENT About Refurbished 10gb

I was looking for a cheap new 10gb and I've found one! My question are:
1. Are refurbished from apple exactly like new?
2. Do they have scratches on the screen or back?
3. Should I get a 10gb new for 240 or refurbished for 210?

I checked the apple site a few days ago and the 10gb's that they were selling weren't refurb, they were just put as discontinued, so they would be brand new. the ones for $249.

There are two kinds: one is refurb and anoter is new...

I thought I just saw the Apple store had refurbs for $199.

The refurbs should be like new on the outside but if you want new for sure, buy new...

Refurbs should be scratchless - they will get new front and back casings if they need it.

THANKS AlOT..I think ill go for the refurbished if the $25 off $249 off coupon doesnt come.

Has anyone used the $25 of coupon to buy a 10gb? how much was the total?

Did apple stop sending those out to the new users who sign up there?

I can answer about the refurbs. I just got a 30GB last month on the same sort of offer. It does NOT come in the original pretty packaging. It IS unscratched and comes with anything the model would have come with new. It DOES have plastic coating that says 'Don't steal music.'

Does anyone know how to check the total price on apple.com without actually giving them your credit card # and etc.

I received a refurb'd ipod just yesterday from the Apple store as a replacement for my "frozen-in-reset-mode" 15gb. It looks perfect in everyway and the one I gave them was scratched all to heck. I bought an iSkin to keep this one looking good.

Well, just a heads up, i got a refurb one and had several problems with it. Luckly it's still under warrenty so im sending it back, but the screen was all scuffed up and back was as well. I ended up buying a new 15gb which seemed like a better deal. Since it was brand new.
