Deleting files on PC automatically removes them on ipod
I delete files from my PC i no longer can store on there, when I next connect my Ipod to put more CD's on, it automatically displays updating index, and deletes all the tracks removed on the PC, from the ipod.
In simple terms how best can I avoid this?

Change the iPod option to Manually Sync instead of Auto Sync. Do this when your iPod is connected to iTunes. You'll then have an iPod Options (Preferences?) button that you can click on to turn these options on and off.

you might have to reinstall iTunes so you can change it to manual update.
did you know you don't need any software to transfer songs FROM your ipod TO your computer?
Just enable hidden file view. :) And voila! you can just drag the songs onto your computer
