Concerning the manafacturing of the ipod

I have been told that the 20gigabyte hard drive used in the 20GB Apple ipod is made by Toshiba. Since the ipod is assembled in China, are the parts also made by companies in China?

I'd bet a large sum on it.

Nothing is made in 'developed' countries anymore. The only thing Apple can claim with the iPod is that it is designed in the US.

I'd just about guarantee it.

Last December, I ordered (through the Apple Store site) two 40gb iPods. One, plain, for myself...and one, personalised, as a Christmas gift for my brother.

Mine shipped from California. The engraved Pod originated, according to the shipper tracking number, from somewhere in China...Shanghai, if I recall.

I would take this as pretty definitive proof.
