Problems with Shure E2c Mini Jack cord?

I just sent my Shure E2c's in for warranty repair today because the little connector at the end of the cord was faulty. With the slightest movement the right channel would drop out or become very static-y. I have a feeling it was something in the connection inside the cable/mini jack connector. This problem did not come with the headphones, it developed over time.

Has anyone had any similar problems with their E2c's? What was the result? (Did Shure fix them for free?)

I have a feeling this problem resulted from the little black wind-up case putting stress on the connector.

It's a ***widespread*** problem with early E2cs.-- it happened to me twice.

You'll receive a new (RE-ENGINEERED) set for replacement, and the problem should be gone forever.

Good to know.

Thanks!

Yeah, to add to what azdude said, it's a known problem with the older E2s. It seems to have been resolved, because there are less and less people posting about the problem, but there must still be some old stock out there.

how long does it take for these symptons to appear? I just ordered a pair of E2s, hopefully I don't get a faulty one..

jeri534--

The engineering change was made in January or early February. I doubt any E2cs purchased today would have the problem.

To directly answer your question, the problem showed up in about 3 months time for BOTH pairs that failed on me.

I have had the same problem with my e2's. Purchased mine from Guitar Center back in Feb. and started having problems a few weeks ago. Just sent mine in for repair last week.

Anyone know what the turnaround time is for repair?

Miss having my earphones bigtime. The backup phones I have are over the ear and are useless on my commute with all the ambient noise from the train. Didn't realize how spoiled I had become with the sound isolation I got from my e2's.

Tears in my beer,

Yeah, I miss mine too. I am having to revert to either A) some old panasonic's or B) the stock Apple headphones (yikes!). Anyone know the turn around time?

Received my e2's back from Shure last week. Took about 2 weeks for repair and shipping time. Not bad. Phones work great, though it's only been less than a week. The real test will be in 2 months if I start having problems again.

Kudos to Shure for the fast turnaround time. They even sent them back in a new carrying case (ironic, since I'm convinced the stress of tightly winding the cord in those small cases causes the problem in the first place). They also threw in a Shure pen! A nice gesture.

Anyhoo, no charge for servicing, obviously, since they were under warranty and fast repair time. I'm a satisfied and happy camper. Thanks Shure!

I can't believe how much I missed them. Good quality, isolating earphones really do make a world of difference with my iPod. I take the subway everyday and the phones make the trip very pleasant.

Cheers,
