Contact these guys and, essentially, beg. Use the form at the bottom.

I've heard a few reports of them resetting your account to let you re-download your collection, but you're probably going to have to be persistent (but polite).

Hey BioSparky: Back Up Your Library after you download. Burn it to a disk, get yourself an external HD to keep your music on and everything else you want on your computer.

BACK IT UP IF and you won't have to go through this.

Alright guys you know how it is with syblings, there a pain in the butt. My brother went into my acount from the "My Computer" section of town from his acount and deleted all my "Purchased Music" from iTunes!
I've looked under the C Drive to try to get it back but I cant find any MP3 or ACC files. It blows, I mean sure I could spend $800.00 dollars again. But seriously, who wants to do that (If you have the money go for it)??? If you have any sugestions pleeeeeeeeeeease e-mail me, or if you know how to solve this problem it would be a big favor, I will go crazy with out my music. I already have to pay the $800.00 off from before, I don't need to raise it any higher. Thanks.

PS: Sorry for posting twice I hit enter and yeah bah.

I don't think you really need anymore suggestions. Scroll back up to mine.

If indeed you've spent $800 on the iTMS, there's a good chance that the support people at Apple will be QUITE nice to you, and reset your download history to allow you to redownload the music. They'll want to keep such high-paying customers happy.

Besides... what else could be suggested?

If the link is broken for you, I'll guide you to it.

www.apple.com

iPod + iTunes at top.

"iTunes Support" in bottom left.

"iTunes Music Store Customer Service" on right side in blue box.

"Get Help with Music Downloads" under Music Downloads.

GOOD LUCK!!

Have you spoken with people from apple yet? You keep talking about you needing to reset a cookie... what people are telling you is that Apple will reset your account... so call them or email them.

if the music is on ur iPod, you could try to reload it back on to your computer by using one of the program things

# 11 Re: "HELP!!" My brother deleted all my purchased music, what do I do? =
I was just about to suggest that, Socks - good idea!! Why not give iPod Agent a try? When it copies the music back to your hard drive, just look for your Protected AAC files in the folder you told iPod Agent to store you music in, and put them back into iTunes. And then burn all your purchased music to CD-R's immediately! Keep that from happening again!!

I e-mailed iTunes but no response yet. And another thing... I let my friend borrow my iPod today during 4th,5th and 6th period and he came up to me in 7th (which we have together) and he told me it froze on him. I took a look at it and I had to reset it manualy (By holding play, and menu for 7 seconds) and it came back up and all my music was erased and it froze again!!! Luckily I have the 2 year waranty on it. So how do I turn off the cookie settings on iTunes?

BioSparky: Are you even reading this thread at all? Because it does not seem like it. You have not responded to any of the suggestions or questions asked. Now, as SocksRule stated, and again I'll ask: Do you have these songs on your iPod? If so all you have to do is transfer them back to your computer. If you don't know how, say so. But maybe that's fruitless.

As for your frozen iPod, first try letting the iPod sit for 24 hours or so until the battery is completely drained. Then charge the battery again. Sometimes this method helps when it freezes. Especially if you have the deleted music on it. The music is probably still on the iPod and not deleted. After the 24 hours, do not hook the iPod up to the computer until you post what computer you are using: Mac or Windows. The next step will depend on which computer your using.

One other thing, have you looked in your Recycle Bin? Remember, on a PC, nothing's really gone until you over-write the section of disk that it was on originally. Between the Recycle Bin and a utility (like Norton System Works) you should be able to get everything back. Think FILES, not music and act accordingly.

If you're able to get your hands on data recovery software like Ontrack Easy Recovery then you will 100% be able to recover the downloaded music.

I have been reading this thread, I already have tried everything you guys have said with my iPod. I contacted APPLE and there sending my a package so I can send my iPod in for repair. But I also got no reply about my music... I have looked in the recycling bin my brother is also not stupid. I went to the C Drive and searched it manualy. Nothing came up.

# 19 Re: "HELP!!" My brother deleted all my purchased music, what do I do? =
Why would you spend $800 on crappy 128kbps compressed music files? With that money you could of purchased A LOT of records/cd's that actually have good sound quality.

# 20 Re: "HELP!!" My brother deleted all my purchased music, what do I do? =
Maybe you'd spend $800 on "crappy" compressed music because you can't tell the difference between the two. I'm so sick and tired of hearing this argument... remember that not everybody in the world is an audiophile. I can't tell the difference between a compressed file or a CD as long as it's 128kbps or over, so is it a sin if I choose to buy from the music store? You're not the only one listening to music in this world...
Back on topic... try to get your data off the iPod before you send it in, if that's even necessary. My suggestion: uninstall iTunes before you plug your iPod back in, so it decreases the risk of you losing your music permanently, and then plug your iPod in. In Windows, open an Explorer window and go to the "View" or "Tools" menu (I think... don't have windows running right now, I'm on BeOS), and there should be a option named "Folder Options." Click the "View" tab and select Show Hidden Files and Folders." Click Apply/OK, and then head back to My Computer and open your iPod drive. You should see a folder called "iPod_Control" now. Open it, and there will be a folder called "Music" - open that, and there should be a lot of folders in there, named F00, F01, F02, and so on. Open "F00" and if there are MP3/AAC files there , then click Back twice, and copy the "Music" folder to your C: drive, and you should have all of your music back. Reinstall iTunes, add your music back (though you will ahve to do some major reorganizing with your music files!), and restore your iPod . Do that, and then sync with iTunes, and you *should* be OK! I hope I didn't confuse you too much, let me know how things go!

you're missing the point, which is this: for 800 (!!) dollars, you could get yourself a v. impressive CD collection that allows you to rip at the quality of your choice, borrow them to friends, rip as many times as you'd like when your brother decides to baleete all of it, and booklets rule.

And I really enjoy going to the music store and picking out CDs that are hard-to-find much rather than going to an online store where they have virtually any record available.

But whichever you prefer. If I buy something I want to be able to hold it in my hands and look at it if I want to.

# 22 Re: "HELP!!" My brother deleted all my purchased music, what do I do? =
Folks... back on track here. It appears that the brother intentionally deleted all the files, removing them from the recycle bin. Not sure if Norton or comparable system utility has been tried. Likely that the PC has been used since Friday, so some of the tracks have been over-written.

May I suggest something that has nothing to do with Apple? Since your bro appears to have committed a malicious act, can you appeal to the rents to have him make you whole? Or do they not know that you spent the $800?

Exactly! You could actually buy REAL music! Even if you aren't an audiophile now, maybe in 5 years you will become interested in audio, buy yourself some good audio equipment, and you'll be stuck with this tinny compressed music that will sound horrible. You'll end up having to repurchase all the music over again on CD. Buying compressed music is a terrible investment and a waste of money.

If you have windows XP, try the restore system option and put the system in a timeframe before the malicious act.

i think this is fake Yeah, I was with him at "my little brother deleted my music", but at "he's not stupid, he knows about the recycle bin" he lost me. I mean, your brother deleted your music ON PURPOSE? And all of a sudden this iPod just loses it's head 7th period after someone suggested getting the music off it? Notice these wrinkles appear AFTER the solution is offered. It's not like he said, "I can't get it off my iPod because it was fried yesterday and I've lookeed in the recycle bin and it's not there" in the first post. He's just being frustrating to the people trying to help him IMO. Especially after someone gave him names for recovery utilities that would cost MUCH less than $800 (BTW I'd like to know who else has spent this at the iTunes store; not saying there's anything wrong with that, just seems high to me) and that elected no response. He also ignored the statment to remember he's dealing with files not music, which I thought was helpful. Don't waste any more time on this dude who apparently wants to complain about his music being gone instead of getting it back, and is about to send what I'm betting is a perfectly good iPod back to Apple (if it really exists in the first place :) )
BTW Dude if your story is true, sorry for doubting you, but quit being a drama queen and just try and recover the @$#*, they've told you how.

BioSparky, could you elaborate (briefly) on the difference in procedure on the different platforms? I would have thought given a reset scenario the only option on either platform would be a restore, which would delete music?

Can't you just go to Advanced in iTunes and go to Check for Purchased Music which should download all music you have purchased with ur account.

# 30 Re: "HELP!!" My brother deleted all my purchased music, what do I do? =
Hi, welcome to the lounge.

What you suggest is not possible and that is why this thread is important in a way. The only way you can use the check for purchased music option is if there was a problem on apples end, or a computer problem on your end during the download. this DOES NOT work if you delete the music yourself. This is why apple wants you to backup your music.

Now apple has been kind to some users who have had hard drive crashes or other accidents, but don't look at this as a way out. Protect your investments and back up music.
