Spambots

Do spambots pickup email addresses off of forum posts?
If I post an address, like this one:
jefftoyotaec@yahoo.com
will it get a lot of spam?

There is the chance that this will happen - part of the reason we restrict new members ability to view others profiles is to protect their registration details. If you insist on posting your email address it's best to make it hard for any bots to harvest it - replacing the "@" with "at" and the "." with "dot" may help.

Go to fark.com and look at some profiles of commenters. Many of them have devised extremely creative ways to obfuscate their email addresses.
