Wireless help

Hey guys,

Does anyone know any wireless connection forums out there? A couple google searches have lead to pretty dead forums and not what I'm after.

Basically I want to set XP up for a wireless connection. I go into Network Connections, and there is no 'Wireless' icon, and it seems that's where the problem is - I did a search for wireless in the Help and Support Center for Network Connections and it tells me to click on that icon, though it is non-existent.

By the way, I have a D-Link DSL -604+ if it counts for anything.

Any directions or points are greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

It looks like there is a DSL-604+ forum here: link (http://www.expansys.com.au/f.aspx?i=104294)

But it sounds like your problem is that your PC isn't aware that it has a wireless adapter, if its not showing up in the network connections at all.

If you have a laptop, first check that your wireless is enabled - most laptops have a Function-Fx (F2 on Dell, F5 on IBM) combination to turn the wireless on and off. You should have some sort of light on the PC showing that the wireless is on.

If that doesn't do anything, either your wireless card is dead or (more likely) you have a driver problem. You can get info about fixing drivers here (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/283658). It will tell you how to bring up the Device Manager. If you see an exclamation over the icon for your wireless card, you need to download the drivers for that card (usually from the vendor's website), right-click on the icon and chose "update driver".
