Hello, Im new and need help with purchasing an ipod

Hello to all,

I don't know much about ipods, and I was wondering could someone direct me with purchasing one?

I just want to have a couple tunes...to take with me. I don't need the whole works. Please, can someone tell me which one would be good for this? Thanks for any help.

If you don't care about the frills, you should try the shuffle. They're only $79, extremey small, and will hold 240 songs. Check out the review ( http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/ipod/review/apple-computer-ipod-shuffle-second-generation/).

But if you want to see the songs and select specific ones, go with a nano. Since you don't care about the frills, you could go with an older one and get one quite cheap.

Edit: Plus, a factory refurbished nano is only 79 dollars also. You can't go wrong. Refurbished ones are fine, I assure you. http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=AA9C1546&nclm=Certified

go for the nano if you want an ipod, thats truly a killer deal. i would also reccoment the creative zen stone plus or irivier s10, really cool supersmall players. and yes, there are other things that play music besides the ipod =)

I'd say go with a refurbished iPod nano for the same price as an iPod shuffle.

I've been using a Creative Zen Nano for awhile - nothing even similar to the iPod Nano. One thing that's nice about it is you can just plug it into any computer, drag your music onto it, and play - no messing with iTunes or song tags.

It uses regular batteries, which has its pluses and minuses. You'll want rechargeable batteries if you use it much (more money), but you can always get working batteries anywhere, and it doesn't have an internal battery that will begin to die in a few years.

Do you live near an Apple Store? I would say Shuffle or the lower priced Nano. But you might change your mind if you touch and feel the options............

Every time I read that, it sounds like you're suggesting an iPod touch...

The Zen Stone still uses plain old Windows drag & drop which is quite handy when you're just dealing with a few songs. And with a coupon (http://www.buy.com/retail/coupon.asp?prid=84773074) and Google checkout, you can get a new 2GB player for $35.

I'd definitely pick it over the shuffle if you have albums. I use the screen on mine all the time to get from one album to another. Even though mine's only 1GB, that's still enough for a half-dozen or so albums.

I'd just get a new Nano, same price as the 2 gig old 2nd gen, $149, but has 4 gig instead of 2 gig and has video capability. I was really mad when I heard about the new Nano Vid cause I had just got my 2 gig Nano about 8 months ago.

Sounds like a nano would be good for you, nice and small but has a screen and should hold enough music for your needs.
