Help with adjusting multiple auido levels?
Okay so here is the deal, I just got done importing all of my music into my iTunes library, no problem there. The problem I am having is with the consistancy of the audio levels. In other words each song in my iTunes library plays at a different volume. When I play one song the next is either too loud or too soft. I know that iTunes has a volume adjustment but the problem with that is I would have to go song by song. With over 30GBs of music the thought of going through 6,000 songs, adjusting them one by one, just frighten's me!! The fact of the matter is it would just be to tedious and time consuming for me. So I was wondering if there are any programs, applications, or tricks that I could use to help me accomplish my monstrous task. Any help would be much appriciated! Thanks in advanced!!

First of all you could give Sound Check a try, it works for some people but not for most. In iTunes Preferences Playback tab check the Sound Check option. You would also need to turn it on for the iPod in it's settings menu.
I would recommend using MP3Gain (http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/) set for Track Gain and aprox 92db Target Volume. Some "Clipping" will occur but you wont notice it and it can be set lower if you do. All changes to the volume level are written to the mp3's tags and can be undone if you don't like the results.
MP3Gain only does mp3 files, there is similar programs for non-protected AAC files as well. Once you have changed the volume levels with MP3Gain you will want to turn off all instances of Sound Check in iTunes and on the iPod.

If you go to http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/ you can now get an add-on called AAC gain that allows the mp3gain interface to adjust both unprotected AAC and MP3 files. I highly recommend it.
