Ipod Classic TV out with New Universal Dock
Hey, I just recently bought a new Ipod Universal Dock with remote for my Ipod Classic. I'm sure this has already been discussed but I bought the new dock partly in the hope that I could attach any ordinary 3.5mm to 3 RCA cable into it to watch videos on the TV. I'm not exactly sure, but does the new dock have the chip in it that allows video out for the Ipod Classic? I thought it did, though I don't want to be forced to buy the Apple cable that is the same price as the dock...
I've tried a few cables but all have the same result: audio works fine, but video is a grey noise.
Though the dock is really good in all other aspects, it'd be good if i could get the video out working.
Are there any solutions to this?

This has been discussed many times. I'd give $10.00 to the first person who can tell me what the he!! the purpose of a dock without any video out functionality would be. Here's a question I haven't heard answered - If you buy the $50.00 cable only (no dock), are you able to have video out in that case?

Ok here we go.
Both the Dock and the cable (Composite/component) are $50 bucks each, the dock cannot play back video without the use of one of the new cables, the cable however can output both audio and video on its own, and charge the ipod via USB.
what is the purpose of the dock without video out well it comes with a remote so you would plug the dock into your stereo and control your music via the remote. personally I agree it seems apple wants its users to pay an extra $100 just to use a remote to wach movies on a bigger screen.
I say just get the cable its the same price as the dock.

If you can find the OLD Universal dock anywhere, go for THAT one instead.

Yes, I got the old dock last month and it works fine with the cheap generic cords I have. It doesn't come with a remote though, so I ordered one off eBay. Good luck.

O ok, thanks everyone, I'll decide if I want to return the dock (got until this saturday). I might as well do that though (get the old dock and get the remote from ebay).
Or, for an extra $40 at JB, (selling it for $129) I could get the old Ipod AV kit (Dock, Remote and AV cable), I'll see.
So the older dock definitely works with the Ipod Classic (as in video out)?
Though its not such a big deal for me, it'd be good if it all worked
Haha, and another thing, I've had my Sennheiser CX300's (Best in-earphones for $80) for over a year now, and the right ear has become softer than the left, so the sound is uneven, this may sound a bit disgusting but I reckon its because the metal grate part is full of ear wax, and I don't know how to get it out. Anyone have any ideas?
