Weird Capacity reading on iTunes

I'm having some issues with my iPod lately, and when I try to sync it with my music, it'll read the capacity as the image below.

And when I try to reset it, it often freezes and still ends up looking like this. And it's not even logically possible to have hundreds of gigs of anything on a 30G iPod.

Any thoughts?

It may be time to do a restore on that iPod. I have a 30GB iPod Photo that was showing 21GB used and no remaining space. I restored and the capacity was corrected.

WOW, you got a monster ipod there ... hehehe
Yeah, i'd say try to restore it. Are you able to backup your files first ... ?

You may want to reconsider posting your iPod's serial number on the world wide web!

Yeah dude, I think posting up your serial number might be a bigger problem for you.

well i did manage to fix the problem by reinstalling itunes a few times. restoring it only caused it to freeze at first.

and oops about the serial number, but not to be naive, why is that so tragic? and alas i can't even edit the post.
