e review of the new Apple Dock & Cables

I think it is great that iLounge's new Apple Dock & Cables review speaks out against Apple's both despicable and manipulative efforts to gouge us with the new video/tv out LIMITATIONS. I purchased a 160GB classic and sold my 80GB Video before I knew what they had done. I now have an ipod dockable portable video player which will not work without a mass of cables and adapters (so much for portability), and a $1200 home theater receiver which used to be able to control video playback through it's remote.

I have a comment on the review which seems to indicate that the previous Apple Univeral Dock will not work with the Classic. I saw the previous version at a local big box store on sale for $20 and decided to try it out. It not only outputs the video through it'
S-Video port but also worked fine with the old Apple composite video cable which I found on sale for $10. Add to that the Apple remote (brand new) that I got for $1 on ebay. All of these items are still available on ebay for very reasonable prices. I only wish there were enough of them still out there that Apple would have to eat the inventory of these new "accessories" they are trying to force us to buy.

I am now on my 4th ipod (40GB 4g, 60GB Photo, 80GB 5G, and now 160GB Classic), but I will not buy again from Apple unless they remove the video out limitations that have crippled (for no good reason) the other $1500 in accessories I have invested in.
