Well, I accidentaly dropped my iPod the other day...

I foolishly relied on my 80GB iPod to hold all of my music, and when I dropped it, it broke. It didn't dent or snap or anything, it just shows a screen with "The sad iPod" and a link to the Apple support site. I tried using the suggestions on the site but it didn't help at all. I can't plug it into the computer to access the files. I would like to know if there's a way to somehow, well first of all fix it, and if not, is there a way that I can somehow open it and maybe it has a hard drive that I can plug into the computer? I'd really hate to re-download 6, 000 songs. I'm sure that the hard drive is intact, there's proly something that got knocked out of place and now it isn't functioning properly. I'm truly forever in debt to anyone that can help me. Thankyou alot in advance for any efforts that you may make:)

Well, like stated here:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61771
It usually means hardware failure, which usually means a HD failure. Follow the instructions in that link, and if that doesn't work, it doesn't look good.
