Hi,
I recommend the Logitech Audiostation being sold right now on Amazon.com on behalf of TigerDirect. It costs $119 plus shipping and you can download a $50 Logitech Rebate form - Google Search and get it for $69. It cost $300 last year. I bought one, it came in two days, and it is the best IPOD system I have ever heard and I have used several to include: Audiostation Express, Logitech MM50, Athena iVoice, JBL OnTour, Bushnell IPod Speaker and the Altec Lansing IM9.
The good is: very very good sound at LOW volume where most of us have to live to be considerate to others. Very Very meaty, rich sound, that doesn't distort on full bass at top volume. The sound is not harsh, customizable, but always sounds good even on full treble or full base. The remote is great. Just like a Wii remote, I keep it in my hand when listening. The display is very nice and has a satisfying effect when you change things with the remote. The touch buttons are like under a glass table. I read about all the problems with the buttons and mine work great.
The bad is: the AM radio is staticky but I can get it ok with adjusting the antenna. The FM radio shows RDS data but it doesn't quite sound perfect. Could be that I am in the basement though.
For me, I got these things for $49 after rebate from Tiger Direct and $66 with shipping, they came fast, they sound good.
Looks: the things weigh a good amount and have a very matte black finish kind of like a good quality center channel speaker would feel. I leave the cloth grills on to make them blend in. They sit on top of my old school 27 inch TV and it is a good look and sounds good.
Well, there is my recommendation. My #2 would be the Altec IM9, they sound very deep and use 4 C batteries, come with a backpack, and can be moved from room to room or taken outside.

is there anything bigger like the blue maestro 700 70w speaker system, this one looks pretty big but it looks kind of plain and boring are there any others that have cooler speakers or that have like neon lights in the speakers
