World Series, I knew ye not
Had to share my frustration at obtaining World Series tickets. Now that I'm a colorado resident, I thought it would be awesome to go see my first WS game. The management, for whatever ungodly reason, decided it would be the most fair to sell tickets via the internet on Monday. When the site recieved over 8 million visitors in less than half an hour and a supposed "malicious attack," we fans were told we'd have to try again Tuesday.
So today I logged on and, low and behold, after an hour I was able to 4 purchase tickets just off of 3rd base for $250 each. Everything went fine up until the point where I sumitted my credit card info. The site proceeded to freeze, and wouldn't go past the "submit" screen. After half an hour, I called the support line, spent 45 mins in a queue, then was told that my tickets had been given away to someone else because I didn't purchase them quick enough. I had taken screen shots of the process, and told them that, but they said there was nothing they could do.
A lot of cussing later, I've come to the conclusion that this terrible experiment should never be repeated. I would have happily spent all night camped out to buy my tickets. There is no way it's fair to the fans to have the tickets sold to anyone in the US (scalpers, mostly, I'm sure). Colorado residents should have had first crack at them, not a Yankees fan in New York who is selling the tickets at 8 times the price he paid (yes, there is one of those).
Any other Coloradoans have this experience?

had a similar experience with concert tickets a while ago :shake: i loathe internet ticket sales and strongly believe they should be outlawed. hell, even if they put some restrictions in place putting limits on scalping, it would be better. it's the most ridiculous system there is. if they actually sold them in person, it would deter scalpers and the tickets would go to people who actually want them and will enjoy them. and i agree, colorado people should've gotten first crack at them, after all, isn't the whole idea of home field advantage having the HOME team's fans cheering them on? good luck, maybe a miracle will happen and you'll manage to get your hands on some tickets :)
PS, Go Rockies! I am a huge Yankees fan and I detest the Red Sox, I would love to see the Rockies win the Series.

I'll support the Rockies this year, I suppose... I suppose it's good sportsmanship, since they beat my own team, the good old Marlins.
Marlins 2009. I can feel it. Then they'll sack all the best players and start all over again, just like they did in 1998 and 2004. That's probably why it takes six or seven years to make it to the World Series again.
But you can't argue with the 2-0 record- played in it twice, won it twice.

Sorry, Moe. Did you try any later games?

Didn't try, but sounds like many others here in Good 'old CO had the same problems you did Moe...

That's the impression I'm getting. Fairly ridiculous

All you Rockies fans/makeshift fans are on a mission to be saddened. 8-1 in the bottom of the 5th. 4 game series this year, my friends.
edit: Did I say 8, I meant 9. My bad :p
edity edit: 10. I'm going to bed, this inning is cringeworthy. But only after they just got another run (11). The walks are killing the Rockies.

I don't know what happened to the Rockies since last week and this week. Maybe the 9 days off affected them or something. It's a differant feeling in the city after tonight, people aren't so happy now and well.... I think the Rockies shouldn't be in the series.
I didn't see as many people buying t-shirts and stuff on the little corner stands on Thursday. I was actually wishing the Rockies would have lost the first round of the playoffs so we wouldn't be where we are today.

Maybe the home field will do them some good for the next few games... of course, same could be said for Boston.
# 9 Re: World Series, I knew ye not
I got tickets for the World Series once, for game 7 of the 1995 series. It was either two together for game 7, or two separate for game 6. As you recall the Braves won in six. D'oh!

I am and have been a Red Sox fan my whole life. They may dissapoint occasionally, but they swept the series this year, that's two World Series in four years. I just wish that they could have won it at Fenway instead of at the Rockies' home field. That much dissapoints me.
