I will wait for the reviews and some expected bug fixes. I look forward to using Time Machine, the new Finder, Spaces and making my own widgets from web pages in Safari. I will be ordering a new 17" MacBook Pro early in the new year since I could really use a CPU speed boost.

I'm going to wait on this one. I honestly don't know where Steve is going to take this. It looks like a lot of eye candy, and a lot of crap that I'm really not going to use. I'll take my $130 and get a RAM upgrade and some Xbox 360 stuff.

Steve is really going to have to prove that this is worth the upgrade, because as of right now, it seems like upgrading to Vista from XP.

A lot of eye candy, but not a lot of substance.

We'll have to see.

Don't think I'll get it immediately. Probably bundled when I buy a portable Mac soon.

Not at all! The under-the-hood stuff in Leopard represents Big Change (and Good Change at that ;-) This'll be bigger than the improvement of 10.3 over 10.2. Dunno if it's on the features list, but the huge change in Leopard is "garbage collection" in the memory manager routines. This is such a major change in the dev environment that I expect to see small shops drop support for 10.4 rather quickly; big dev houses (Adobe, etc.) will take longer to dump older versions, but it'll happen with them, too.

The new "Core" routines are real advancements, not just "eye candy." Barring major show-stopping bugs, Leopard is gonna be the way to go.

I'm getting a new Mac Pro this afternoon, in response to Leopard. The tower will still be able to boot 10.4 if need be, but can be filled with Leopard goodness for just $10 next week; best of both worlds.

I've got it installing.
It's taking a while just to check the disk but it still looks beautiful.

I don't honestly see the point in upgrading. I did want to, after all my Macbook Pro is less then 2 months old and I wanted to have up to date software...but I would at this point, rather spend the cash on the new Office (and dump Neooffice once and for all!) or even pay for a Vista licence so I can run it alongside OS X 10.4 on bootcamp...

Perhaps somewhere down the line I will consider upgrading, but IMO bar a visual upgrade I don't see the point.

Last thing, Time Machine? Isn't this just like the System Restore app on Windows?

Ok, so I broke down and waited in line to get it. It's awesome!!! Me and a few buddies went in on a family pack, and it's installing on mine right now. Pat has it on his, and after playing around on it, I can't wait until it's installed on mine.

I went to the release "party" at my local apple store, at the line was incredible, at least 500 people at one point! I did end up getting in, getting my free shirt, and played around with Leopard on an iMac, good stuff :)

LOL @ Stephanie and Katelyn paying actual money to watch Saw 4.

And, from what I've seen, comparing Time Machine to System Restore is like comparing a Maybach to a golf cart. Plus it backs up documents and files that you can restore individually, on the fly, which System Restore definitely does not do.

Is the black apple on the taskbar a theme Freddy or does it come default?

That's the default. Kinda cool, but I miss my blue apple.

System Restore only restores drivers and system files, not program files or documents. Time Machine would be the same as GoBack which is available for Windows. It backs up everything you do on your computer including multiple changes to documents.

The Bootcamp beta is gone and now the only way you could do that would be to buy Leopard.

Leopard is amazing though. There were only about 20 people at the "Mac Outpost" near my house so I just grabbed a copy at six and went home.

LOL @ you for not having the balls to say "See Saw 4" instead of what you said. :)

And FreddyRamone, why is the garageband icon over the iDVD icon in the dock?

I know "Spaces" is old technology, but it sure is handy to switch between apps you use all of the time, (like iTunes, Safari, Mail). :D
