is Circuit City being stupid or something? got 11 $24 gift cards already this mo
I've been buying a lot of electornics this month, because I'm trying to finish my home
theater project.
The Circuit City nearest me is one block away from my office building... so I usually
browse Circuit City's website and place orders while I'm at work...(yes, it's a big no-no) :D
Anyway, I would walk down the block to pick up my order during lunch. Since Circuit City
has a 24-minutes or $24 gift card guarantee, I've gotten 11 $24 gift cards so far this
month. This is out of a total of 16 online orders that I've placed. In other words, 11 out
of the 16 orders were either not in-stock, or their computer simply can't keep track of
their inventory.
I'm quite happy to take the 11 $24 gift cards and spend them. Total is $264 of free
money. (good enough for another 80gb iPod classic, for example) Since I walk past the
Circuit City on my way to lunch, it's just a matter of stepping inside the Circuit City to
collect my free $24 cards...
I'm just glad I don't own any Circuit City stocks... :D
Anyone else had such experiences with Circuit City lately?

Aren't they going out of business?
It's been my experience that most stores can't keep up with their inventory. The internet is faster than they are. THe website will say in stock, in the meanwhile they haven't even cracked open the pallets yet from a 2 week old shipment. It's ######ed, I never trust the website.

Circuit City is really stupid, they fired thousands of employees who were earning more than minimum wage, then they hired other people for minimum wage.
Sounds like they're trying to save money which last I checked was filed under "smart."

Too bad you can't file some of the min. wage employees as "smart". Overall, this is hurting the shopping experience. I remember when you could have an intelligent conversation with people in retail. I remember when they actually had some knowledge about what they were selling. I remember when they did a better job of pretending they give a #### about their work. Nowadays all we have are paycheck collectors standing behind counters thinking about how many more paychecks until they can get new $2000 spinners on the crappy cars mom and dad bought them.

Point taken. Radioshack still has knowledgeable people most of the time.

Not any of the RadioShacks around here... maybe they're knowledgeable on their own, but they still have to push the MonsterCables and other over-priced accessories and warranties.
I actually like walking through a store and giving people advice after an employee has "helped" them. Especially when the employee is still standing within earshot.
