I think my iPod has some serious issues and sadly my warranty is over. Firstly, the middle button of the iPod is jammed, but it still still slightly pressable and usable when you press it to select things. However, I feel that this problem indirectly affects the second problem, which is the iPod keeps freezing up and is unable to reboot even when I try the restart thing. I think this is possibly due to hardware/software issues as well as the jamming of the middle button. Alas, as my warranty is over, I can't send it in.

Would it be good if I try sending in for battery replacement program or just let it be, as the iPod is still workable at times, but rarely. Also, sending it in for battery replacement/repair might be a problem as it was formerly rejected by Apple for having a dent in the back of my iPod as they kept on insisting problems were caused by that dent which is totally not true some minor issues happened before the forming of the dent(not including this problem however).

Lastly, this problem has happened for the second time. It happened on the day my warranty expired, however everything was back to normal and the middle button became unstuck after a day. This time however, I think is extremely serious as the iPod keeps on freezing.
