Serj Tankians going solo
Hey guys
For those who dont know yet, Serj (lead singer of System of a DOwn) has gone solo. It was quite a shock to me at first but when i thought about it, singers that have gone solo produce amazing music, even if their band was awesome itself.
I was going through the net the other day and found a little site where i watched and listened to his new song "empty walls". I was quite surprised at the song actually. Have you guys seen it? I reckon its too political but hey, thats my view.

I was actually very excited whenever I heard that he would be going solo a while back. I even purchased his two singles of Empty Wall and The Unthinking Majority from the iTunes Store. You can tell that the main System Of A Down sound comes from Serj so that is good as that sound is extended to his solo songs. I think his solo songs (or at least the two I have) sound a lot like early System Of A Down material so I really like them.
Overall, I think he is going to have a successful solo career. He may end up releasing two albums while System Of A Down is on break as he said that he had about 48 songs for a solo record then narrowed it down to 22 then narrowed it down to around 16. So he definitely has enough material for another solo album, maybe three. System Of A Down is going to take a indefinite break which I imagine will last at least 4 years before they enter the studio again. It will probably last 6 years though as they came out with two back to back albums and toured extensively for both albums. So I am sure they are tired of that material and want to take a really long break.
Either way, Serj's solo career sounds like it will more than hold us over for the next SOAD release. Great material so far and I can't wait to hear the entire album. On a side note, every song on the album will have a music video to accompany it and every video will be posted for free on his website so you can essentially listen to the entire album for free. Neat idea.

There are already songs recorded,
I saw a video on The Wedge on much music last friday.
It's pretty much sounds like all other system of a down but more orchestrated.

well i just heard Serj's new album is being released on the 27th! if it sounds like the older SOAD stuff ill be happy. howd u find the clip?
