Dock for iPod Classic

I recently upgraded from a 3rd Generation iPod to an iPod Classic. I was wondering if anyone knew if the dock that came with my 3rd Generation iPod is compatible with the iPod Classic.

Does anyone know if it is compatible or where I can find out? When I asked this question of an apple store representative, they just sent me to the website for cables and docks.

AFAIK, a dock is a dock is a dock (if all you want to do is sync the iPod. Video output is another story.)
