Made For iPod/Magnets/Other Acc.

Everyone always says don't put magnets near iPods or near computers etc, so what makes it okay for Griffin Technologies to make the Vizor case for iPod which is entirely a magnet on all sides of the iPod. It doesn't make sense.

The product wasn't "Made For iPod" so those products are exempt from being covered for damaging your iPod then? All it seems to guarantee is that Apple approved the product, which is a good thing.

On compatibility, would the Kensington Stereo Dock For iPod work with the current 80GB model? It works with the 60GB model so.... It was a great deal and received an award here.

iLounge has been great for reviewing products and giving good opinions. I've bought a few products that received good reviews here.

Well, it's obviously not a hard and fast rule (else there wouldn't be speakers in laptops or powered speakers for iPods); but it's always good advice. Magnetic force weakens at the inverse square of distance (from a point source), so for weak magnetic fields (fridge magnets, purse latches, cupboard latches, etc.) the magnetic force becomes quite weak at a small distance...

Until you get to larger magnets; then you need to get some real distance from sensitive objects (put an old rotary phone atop a CRT; call in to the phone; watch the color shift for a few weeks after the ringer voltage messes with the focusing magnets). Or, set your laptop up on a dual-18" speaker cabinet and let Nature reformat your drive during the concert ;-)
