song info reverting after change
I've had this problem since using iTunes (first release). Some songs/albums in my collection have tags which can't be modified. If I change something (whether it's in a field in the library view, a field in the "get info" pane, multiple fields in the get info pane, artwork field, etc) the changed info will revert once (and only if) the song is played.
I've tried converting the tags, and in almost every version of iTunes that has been released (thinking that the newer version will have implemented a way to fix this problem). I've also confirmed my read/write access privileges on the files themselves.
Most of my collection is comprised of albums. While there are a few one-off songs that exhibit this problem, there are no instances where only one or two songs of an album are affected.
I'm thinking it's a problem with the way the files were originally ripped, since none of the affected files are ones that I've ripped personally. They are all from friends, server groups, etc.
Any thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks,
Eric

Yep, this happened to me a few times. What you have to do is let iTunes re-encode them into something else. If they are MP3, convert to AAC, or vise-versa. I've had about 4 albums with this problem; they changed once the song was played and album art wouldn't stick, but this fixed it every time. Just be sure you delete the old files and not the new ones when the encoding is finished.

I never noticed any change, and I'm pretty obsessed with high bitrates. Just as long as your not coverting to something higher than what you started with, the quality shouldn't change at all.
