Itunes Not Recognizing IPOD

Ok I'm very new to this whole itunes thing but for the last couple of weeks I have been managing two libraries on two different computers. One is a laptop at home the other is a computer at a cyber cafe. I have been messing around with a 2G nano and have purchased stuff on both computers. I just now plugged in my new 80GB classic in hopes of transferring my purchases onto it from the cyber cafe's computer and then taking it home to add to my main library. So right now the two libraries have totally different sets of purchases.

anyway hope everyone follows. the problem is now that I have plugged the ipod into the computer, with itunes open, itunes doesn't do anything. the ipod itself just ejects itself and itunes never recognizes it. can someone help? thanks:)

ok, I might have gotten it straightened out. I just called apple and they suggested using USB ports in the back of the computer which is a little bit harder because of they way they're set up at the cafe.

I think the guy said that it just had something to do with the ones in back having more power. I don't know...I'd still like to know what you guys think.

2 Computers each with their own library/purchases

1 2G Nano which can be synced to either library with no problems

New 80GB classic now has to be hooked up to the back USB ports instead of the ones in front on the cafe's computer

I got to thinking that maybe only 1 ipod can be set to one computer at a time. any idea about that?

thanks again:)

You can have more than one iPod connected to a computer at anytime, iTunes will see them both as separate iPods. I have 2 iPods connected to my iBook through a USB hub at home along with 2 external hard drives. I still connect both iPods directly to the computer when I'm on the road with no problems. Both iPods will even sync at the same time with no issues.

well I managed to get the ipod synced. the purchases i put on the ipod are listed on the ipod but I haven't watched them yet. the only other problem i ran into when i was finishing up is that i was not able to eject the ipod right away. I got a message saying something about the Ipod contains files that are in use or something like that.

I had to close itunes and reopen it to get the ipod ejected in what I think was a safe manner

You should turn off "Enable Disk Mode" in the iPod General options. This will allow the iPod to disconnect right after it is done syncing.

If you want to keep disk mode on, then use the Eject button in iTunes (just right of your iPod's name) and it should handle it for you.
