Auto tagging question
Hey,
Having recently bought an 80Gb classic i'm loading up all my music from my hd and i've found several folders where the songs are just numbered 1,2,3 etc etc. Is there any quick way of sorting this out or is it just a boring weekend of manually tagging them (please god noooo)

Whem you say folder, do you mean in Explorer/Finder? As iTunes doesn't care how files are named but rather how they're tagged, I'd first try to add them to iTunes and see if they look allright there first.

Are these numbered folders found on the iPod through Windows Explorer, in iTunes Music folder, or are they shown only as numbers in iTunes/iPod?
Are these folders you have yet to add to iTunes?

ok folks, basically the folder in windows says the name of the artist and the album but the files in the folder are only numbered 1-13 so on my ipod they are just numbers.

Sounds like u need an iPod 101 tutorial. Find it on top under ARTICLES.
Quick extracts - iPod only cares about the songs' ID3 tags, in the absence of ID3 tags, iPod will use filename as song title and leave everything else blank. U can use iTunes to add/edit ID3 tags but for more than a few, a batch tagger as mentioned is easier.

Files on disk can be named 1-13 but still be tagged correctly so that they appear with names when added to iTunes. You were just unlucky here.
What you need to do is go to http://www.allmusic.com and look up that album. And start tagging! Tedious work, but someone's got to do it.
