Is there a quick and easy way to remove duplicate songs?

Sometimes when I import albums or songs into iTunes, it adds them twice, and I end up with duplicates. I know you can go to View -> Show Duplicates, but there is no way (that I can find) that automatically removes all the duplicate songs in one fell swoop. (Note that I only want to remove the second instance via soft delete, that is, the "Keep Files" option is used.)

Is there an official way of doing what I want that I can't find, or is there some kind of third party Automater script that can do this?

ITunes doesn't know which one of the songs is the duplicate, only you can tell. So it's manual work, yes.
But a tip is to sort by "Date added" to get them sorted together. Much easier to select a bunch then.

Essin YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH TIME YOU SAVED ME with that idea, I NEVER thougt of that , im new to ipods but i just got a 160gb classic, well short story is last night not knowing what Lossless audio was, since zune didnt have it I decided to convert 70gb of music to lossless audio, and went to sleep only to wake up to a screen on my pc which said that on my 320gb HD i only had 768k remaining LOL, not even enough to run system restore so upon deleting files in a hurry i got the system restore up only to find out that it NEVER EVER created a restore point... SO THANK YOU!

PureSkillz, you can't convert lossy music into lossless.
Well, you can, technically, but it's futile :)
