What are you doing for a case?

I'm enjoying my iPod touch... but I'm scared of the thing! lol :D

It's so damn fragile and I would like to put a nice case on it... but according to a rep at an Apple store, "The cases are not available because the device doesn't officially launch until the 28th. Sorry. (Glad you got one though man, enjoy it!)"

Damn. So now what do I (are anyone of us) do for a case until then?

I personally had the cash ready to order this one:

Very, VERY nice case.

But are there any available now? If not, has anyone made a makeshift case?

I would use the slip case I got with my 5G iPod Video.

Got mine on FRI. Currently I simply slide it into an old Oakley sunglass bag. The material is great for cleaning the touchscreen. No protection, but at least it's not directly exposed to the world.

Are the iPhone cases too thick for the iPod Touch?

Yeah, the Touch will slide back and forth in an iPhone case. It's frustrating. I don't think I've ever been so worried about damaging something. :(

I will try the slip case tonight, so thanks for the idea. I would really like a solid protective case, though.

Why do you say it's fragile? It's actually one of the most durable iPods ever, if you consider that A) it has a hard glass screen that is difficult to scratch, and B) it doesn't have a hard drive.

It seems delicate though, due to its thinness. I am just gonna get a skin that covers the edges and back to prevent the back from scratching and provide some bump and drop protection. I'm not going to worry about the front (besides obviously being careful when its in my pocket.)

I understand the OP's concern. I haven't left my house with the touch because I'm afraid of damaging it. I know it has a scratch resistant screen, but I'm more worried about bumping into something and CRACKING the screen. I would really like to find a case that will cover the screen as well.
