Restoring touch - ipod could not be restored
the ipod could not be restored. an unkown error occured (-18)
Anyone have any idea what I can do? :confused:

I unsuccessfully jailbroke my touch earlier and am trying to restore it. But, when I do the restore in iTunes I get the following error:
the ipod could not be restored. an unkown error occured (-18)

I think I finally found an answer, I did an advanced search on google and made sure it had the error code as it was skipping the (-18) in the search. Once I got this I found a few pages with advice.If anyone needs it, here is the page http://www.extrapepperoni.com/2007/1...things-to-say/

Well, if that doesn't work, here are the steps1. Launch iTunes.
2. Turn iPhone off (hold down top power button & swipe when prompted).
3. Hold down Home button.
4. Plug iPhone into USB/Dock cable.
5. iPhone shows a picture of a Dock cable being plugged into the iTunes CD icon.
6. Release Home button.

I had Jailbroken my touch yesterday. I didn't like the Interface response time, plus had no apps showing in the Installer program. Summerboard would freeze the touch requiring me to turn off/on everytime I opened the program. I didn't like the feel or experience. That's weird - I haven't noticed any difference. I just used iJailbreak on my Mac but it actually worked surprisingly well. I also tested a restore before I did it and it worked fine.DerekVOF at 2007-11-15 12:54:14 >

ORAG, have u sucessfully jailbreak the ipod after the restore?I had the same error as you did. And I am attempting to jailbreak it again and it doesnt seem to do anything again.
