Touch or iPhone??

I'm curious if the slow (egg or whatever) network makes the Iphone inferior to the Itouch. Will apple push an Iphone with a faster wireless or whatever? I have my 80 and will always use that for most of my music and stuff. Just wondering, thanks :)

What a strange question.

The iPhone has the same 802.11b/g capabilities as the iPod touch. It also has access to the AT&T Edge network. This network is quite slow compared to modern 3G networks, but I don't see how this can make it inferior to the iPod touch, as the touch lacks any sort of cellular network coverage.

If you want a phone, and like the iPhone and can put up with the deficiencies, then get an iPhone.

If you are looking for an mp3 player, get the iPod touch. The two aren't really comparable despite their very similar hardware. They are two separate products for two separate markets.

What i'd meant is if there are any significant differences between the two models. I've heard that on an iphone, you cannot use wireless if there is a cell signal, no way to turn it off. I've also been wondering about the ability to connect to yahoomail. I've heard the iphone can do it, but on the itouch because of different permissions or something...we do not have iphone capability here (yet) in alaska, but it's coming soon. Was just wondering if it is worth waiting for this incredible device. Also, does it sync with outlook 2007?

Go with the iPhone is you can afford the $60.00 per month. I had to go with the iPod Touch and I love it. My job pays for my cell phone. If they stop doing that, I'll get an iPhone.

What would the chances be that you would have no cell service, But a working WiFi signal? The iPhone and iPod Touch use the same browser - So anything one device can do, the other can do as well. I don't see why you couldn't use the iPhone in alaska - Do you not have AT&T/Cingular in your area?.. I think all it really comes down to is what you want. Do you want a phone with a built in iPod? Or an iPod with more space for content and a web browser?

Basically the real question here is do you need a phone or not.

need a phone = iPhone
needs a media player without phone baggage - iPod touch

Just jailbroke my Itouch and it does almost EVERYTHING the Iphone will do except make phone calls. If you can hack the Itouch it will add a lot of functions.
I am not a hacker I just used the jailbreak programs and watched a couple of you tube videos and in 10 mins had a jail broken Itouch that is very very functional for me.

Touch isn't a "media player without the baggage" at all. iPhone is a communications platform with media capability thrown in. Touch is iPhone with the core communications capabilities torn out, leaving only the after thought media modules. In the words of Steve Jobs: iPhone Training Wheels.

I say phone baggage here is why.

1. iphone has a phone
2. have to get contract form ATT for 2 years

you can say what you want. it's still "phone" baggage.
