Yahoo Mail giving error message "Cannot Get Mail"

i have a yahoo account. do i need a special one it says user name or password for imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com is incorrect
please SOMEONE!

you have to buy yahoo mail plus to activate pop mail. Regular yahoo mail doesnt work

I believe he's trying to use the free Yahoo IMAP/push service that comes with the iPhone (which uses imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com as server.) It didn't work for me either. Anyone else try?

The service is only for iPhones, and I think the Yahoo servers validate this. Somehow there would need to be a workaround that tricks the Yahoo servers.

Otherwise, the only other options are free webmail, or pay for Yahoo POP.

he wants to check his yahoo mail with his touch...he cant becuase he has basic with mail...with basic yahoo mail you cant check mail through programs like Outlook or through devices such as the touch...now if he upgraded..he will be able to check it

Oh contraire! ;)

You are right in general, Yahoo only offers webmail for free. But not on the iPhone- you get free Yahoo push email with the Mail app on the iPhone.

Obviously many people are now hacking their Touch and installing the iPhone email app. The app works fine for regular email setup (regular POP, IMAP), but doesn't seem to be working with the free Yahoo push email that you can get on the iPhone.

^ yea its not working. i have the mail button on my itouch now. aol mail works but not yahoo why not?

I think my response above (3rd post in thread) explains why it doesn't work. Even though we have copied the app over from the iPhone, the Yahoo server knows that the request is coming from a non-iPhone device. That's my guess.

I don't know of anyone who has gotten it to work.

bro i done told you the only way is if you upgrade your account...

also if you go to safari and log in from there...but from the mail app..its impossible
