distorted audio produced?
is it only me or is it that when i turn up the volume on my ipod the audio being produced is all distorted? i own a pair of bose oe headphones, and ive compared the audio quality of the ipod with a toshiba gigabeat, same volumes, same headphones, no eq on both. and let me say the audio is HORRIBLE on the touch compared to the gigabeat.
let me know if anyone is experiencing this also, so i can exchange for another one.
P.S. yes i have already tried restoring my ipod and re-syncing all my music

Problem is an old one ...
Basically, most CD rips and especially itunes music store purchases are encoded to play back at around 95db or up to 100db
The problem is that the EQ settings add an additional 6db to the sound output which means you get distortion
Fix for this i use is to process all my mp3s and mp4's with MP3GAIN (either normally or with the aacgain binary for mp4s)
The other formums on here have details about these programs ... but this is a NON-destructive change which alters the metadata tags in the file to playback at a lower volume (i set mine at 88db) which means with the EQ (i always use acoustic) added 6db i get ZERO distortion and all is well
Until i found this myself i was deeply upset about the apparant lack of quality...only issue you have is that this process cannot work on itunes purchased songs (.m4p extension) so you must do something to the files first (which i cannot discuss here) but google is your friend
