Touch screen left side responding badly
I got my touch today and checked it out and after a while i noticed that the left side of the screen is hardly responding, the weird part is that when im in the settings adjusting some things like entering my Wi-Fi WEP code all of the keyboard is responding flawlessly but if i go back Home and try to click on either: Safari, Clock or Music it's barely responding.
Also when im in music playing a song and want to press the back button it wont work unless it sorta slide my finger to the left but on the right the buttons work just pressing them.
This is exremely annoying and i hope that it's not an hardware bug but I'm afraid it is.
If anyone has experienced or heard about a problem similar like mine, please reply on this topic.
Thanks,
MDC
edit
I just went to HTTP Proxy to test the keyboard, and there the W and A werent working, but the Q and E were.
edit2
Okay this is extremely odd, so after just messing with the keyboard for a minute (holding my finger down on a letter and just moving it around to see how it responds to the left) the A started to flip out, popping up a few times and then left. Now it's working perfect... I'll post up results after a while, cause it might act up later.
I also already tried putting it to sleep mode and waking it up, switching it completely off and everything but it's still working.

Okay so I've messed around with it all day now and it did good for a long time but then i removed the music that was on it and it started to go crazy on me again, I did my keyboard trick and i got it to work again but later it went away and it just went back and forth a little bit. I'm leaving it untouched now and I'll see what it will do from here on out, it's working good now but if it starts going crazy later I will try getting a new one from my local Apple store.

So I was messing on YouTube last night and after about 30 minutes or an hour of browsing and watching stuff, pretty much the entire screen in YouTube started flipping on me, i would barely touch it and the volume slider would go left and right, wouldnt let me press "Done" even when I wasn't touching it it would flip, could it be that recognizes the heat of my finger too soon or something?
I plan on sending it back soon through my local Apple Premium Reseller, because this is too crazy.
I can't find a similar problem like mine anywhere yet, so if anyone knows...please reply to this.

Schedual an appointment at the genius bar for them to take a look at it. If there is a problem that cannot be fixed then exchange it.
# 2 Re: Touch screen left side responding badly
I think the Genuis bar is only availible in the US, I live in The Netherlands and i have no idea if we have anything similar to that here.
Thanks though, I will try to see if I can find it here in my country.

before doing anything else have you reseted it by holding the top button and the home button at the same time for a few secs??
also have u tried shutting it downa nd starting it back up??
there are many things you can do before saying you have a problem.

I haven't tried that reset yet, but I have fully turned it off, even restored it, the new firmware was already installed when i received it so I didnt have to do that, after the restore no improvement whatsoever, I will try the reset you talked about, thanks.

try it and let me know
# 6 Re: Touch screen left side responding badly
I will don't worry ;) The battery died so i'm letting it fully charge first so check again in 3 hours. U don't have to think it might have been because the battery was almost empty because it did it from the start tho.
It was just working fine before i did the reset, and after it it still worked so yeah...let's just hope it stays that way.
Thanks for ur reply man, not many people seem to know, care or complain about my english, damn dutch people...

oh yea..make sure its fully chagred...thats another thing with the ipod touch..problems happen when its not fully charged
# 8 Re: Touch screen left side responding badly
I'd just take it back and get it replaced, apple seems to want to quickly take care of customers that have touch screen issues with the iphone/touch and will most likely give you a replacement.

Okay it's fully charged now, i just rebooted it, and everything is (still) working fine, no errors thus far, but who knows what will happen later.
I will mess around with it some more and see how it will react, if it happens just one more time then I'll give it to my local store. We don't have many Apple stores in my town, it might just be the only official one, one of the very few in Holland as it is so hopefully shipping won't take too long (back and forth)
I'll update if any do or don't occur, many thanks to all!
P.S. This forum has been the most help to me, not even the Apple discussion forum was able to give me at least ONE reply on my problem.

Alright so the day after the hard-reset, so far so good! I haven't had one single problem ever since the reset. I'm below 20% of my battery now (yeah i used it quite a lot) and browsing on YouTube and Safari a lot to see if it would freak out when flipping from portrait to landscape mode etc. it all went fine and the response is the way it should be on the left side.
If anything later on i will post it here.

Glad to see you got it fixed.

By the way, just an FYI - take off your headphones before a hard reset unless you want a nice loud POP in your ears - wish someone had told me. Ouch.

Hah oh yeah trust me I know, same goes for any type of speakers basically, first turn them off/unplug them and THEN power down the source.
Its working great still, very pleased.
Many thanks!

I think you press and hold the sleep and the home button for a few seconds.
# 16 Re: Touch screen left side responding badly

It's all still working great :) i really hope nothing goes wrong from here.
Thanks GreeKNastY!

Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
