Sold my Touch...heres why
I had it for a few days, really love it , the UI is sooooo slick , its fun to use and it sounds great to these ears...but.
I couldnt use it on the move..i have to get a bus to work in the mornings and then walk for about 20 mins , i also have to walk or drive between sites.
At night i go for a run and changing tracks or volume is a royal pain in the ### on the touch, i have to stop , take it from its case and double tap and adjust , put it back in the case and by that time the song is nearly over .
I phoned Apple and asked about a remote and they said they hadnt heard of any plans to introduce one.
I will miss the Touch and if a remote does come out i may well buy another, for now i will stick with my 3g Nano.
PS. I sent a feedback asking Apple to add a function to stream music by wifi to some sort of adapter that connects to your Hifi, how cool would that be , the ultimate music remote!

That is why you setup playlists for use with the iPod touch. You start the playlist and never have to worry about selecting another song again. I can see how doing all that stuff would be a pain though but that is why my iPod touch carries around a "best of" playlist.

You should have kept it and gotten an old Nano or a Shuffle.
# 3 Re: Sold my Touch...heres why
agreed with everyone else: playlists.
# 4 Re: Sold my Touch...heres why
I would never sell my touch. Playlists are your friend.

If they make a FM Remote for it, then the remote is another excellent choice. I know I loved it, it was $51 but it was well worth it. I hooked it to the bottom of my nano or video, hooked it to my collar and used it like a 2nd gen shuffle.
Unfortunately not many people know that its also a general remote not just a FM Radio Controller..not sure if its compatible with the iPod Touch or not I know it worked with the classic but they are on entirely different systems.

Griffin FM radio control apparently works

Love having Wi-Fi on the commuter bus. But I agree with everyone else . Should have just bought a used
Nano for cheap and kept the Touch.

I returned mine to the Apple Store after a week of use. This was but one of the issues I had with the Touch. Despite the amazing screen and UI there are some serious flaws.

Yes, there are some flaws. For me there are enough positive things (like the sick UI and safari) to outweight the negative things (some apps not included.)

such as? I've had mine a week and no issues yet - what problems did you have?

First, let me say that I got a great unit, in terms of the screen quality having no dead/stuck pixels, the screen looked phenomenal, and the sound quality was really good (much better than the first gen Nano that it was going to replace). The touchscreen interface, despite having large hands, worked flawlessly and frankly blew me away. Week 38.
The pain in the butt of having to power on the screen to change songs or volume is a major negative. It's impossible to simply reach into your pocket and change a song/volume as you can with the click wheel thing... I'd never fully appreciated the click wheel until having used the Touch. Whether this is an issue for you or not is obviously a personal thing... depending on how you use/want to use a device, so it may not bother some people.
While Safari worked well for me, the inconsistent WiFi connection was a problem.
My aforementioned first gen Nano's battery life is dwindling, yet it still has a better battery life than the Touch. I had my brightness set to roughly 50% with the auto function active and I was still having to charge it daily. With the way Apple designs the iPods, so the batteries aren't suer replaceable, I figured at that rate it wouldn't be long before the battery was useless.
I don't care about the "it's a iPod not a PDA" argument. Lack of a note app, and the ability to add calendar events was a big issue too... I'm guessing this will eventually be addressed.
I basically just made a pro/con list of my personal needs and weighed it against the $400 price-tag, and for me it wasn't worth it. Your mileage may vary. :)

Did you get a great unit?

I would never use my Touch for running. It's too big! Stick with your Nano for sure.

plz dnt flame me ipod touch people....i know the ipod touch isnt suppose to be compared to the iphone, but i sold my ipod touch too. I had it for bout 2 weeks and it was fine i really didnt have many problems with my SECOND UNIT( After the update that is). But yea the fact that i had to power the screen to change volume and songs suck, it it wasnt the worst...i hated that my touch's signal would go in and out...i sold mines and picked up a iphone(1.02), activated it and i havent had a problem. I can change songs and volume without touching it at all, also my wifi connection is ALWAYS constant. I was just gnna use it as a touch with benefits but im going to use it on gophone just for the data....just my 2 cents...
