Funny Best Buy Story

I bought a wk 37 iTouch last Saturday from the Gurnee, IL Best Buy it had the negative black screen problem. So I returned it today to the Racine, WI Best Buy. When the girl behind the counter opened the box the iTouch slipped out of the box and hit the counter pretty hard. So she asks one of the Geek Squad to look at it and tells him what I said about the iTouch not displaying deep blacks well. So he turns the iTouch on and presses a couple of buttons then gives it back to her and says ok. So she asks me if I want to exchange it and I ask her if they have any in stock which I checked online at home before I left and no stores within 50 miles have any instock. So she asks the girl over by the mp3 counter and the girl says no we haven't gotten any at all yet. So I get a refund and now once I got home I check to see if any other Best Buy stores have them in-stock. Guess what Racine has one in-stock I guess they are trying to sell the one I returned.

Hahaha, that's funny. Probably a coincidence, but still pretty cool. I feel sorry for the poor bloke who ends up with your iPod.

Wow that's weird, i always wondered what they did with the ones people returned. I guess its just a continuous cycle until they find someone who does not notice the problem.

Actually, each manufacturer has a different policy. Generally, if you let them know it's defected, they will send it back. However, if you just return it, they are unaware in most cases and just resell it with a lower price on an 'opened box'.

High volume stores like BB and Wal-Mart have to track everything in their stores weather that be a return or a product on the shelf to be sold. This is to help track how much has been stolen from them as well as to expediate reorders. What you are seeings is most likely your return but just because it is showing up in their system doesn't mean they are reselling it. If it is in their store they have to track it working or not.
