Smart Playlist Problem

I'm having troubles with my smart playlists.

What I do is have a main playlist of 800 songs or so that I listen to. After this, I extract smart playlists from it, such as recently added. However, the recently added playlist is not the same as the one I'm syncing from iTunes. It seems to be syncing based on what has recently been added to the iPod. Anyone know how I can fix this?

That's a known problem. Same deal on iPhone. Smart Playlists are currently broken on both devices. We're waiting/hoping for a firmware upgrade to fix them.

Another problem that I noticed with Smart Playlists that I haven't seen is that I have a smart playlist that has the very simple criteria of playcount = 1. Then I can listen to songs I have only listened to once, and then they disappear from the list because I have live updating checked for the playlist. Works awesome in iTunes, but not on the Touch.

I found that if I listen to a song on that list, then I choose some other song out of the artist/album/song then it will update the smart playlist to remove that one song I did listen to. That's pretty tedious though.

I also have another smart playlist with the criteria:
Podcast is true
Playcount = 0
Kind is audio

I just listened to all the podcasts on that list, and no matter what I try (short of resyncing), that list never changes. It won't remove items off the list.

Sounds like based on what I've read here in the Touch forum and in the iPhone forum that there are just lots of problems with Smart Playlists. I just hadn't seen much on live updating yet and wanted to add that in.

There are so many things wrong with iTunes right now. I was expecting iTunes 8 and what do we get...7.4. I am also having the smart playlist issue, along with tons of other issues.

Apple needs to fully update iTunes and stop doing these 7.4.1 and 7.4.2 updates, it gets really annoying!
