I have not with an iPod Touch but I did with my iPod video. They are pretty cool about returns, all I did was told them what was wrong with it and they barely looked at it and gave me a new one. So I don't think you will have a problem.
# 2 Re: Return to Bestbuy
They are the coolest about returns. I did it with mine too, they didn't even open the box to check, they were like "ok, no problem" and exchanged it. Simple and clean.
# 3 Re: Return to Bestbuy
I've heard very good things about Best Buy's return policy, and how cool the store clerks are about returning anything.
When I'm in the market for another 'Touch, I'll get mine from Best Buy.

Mine is going back to Best Buy next week if Apple doesn't make an announcement on the black screen issue.
My only worry is that I used $10 of my Reward Zone certs, I'm not sure the way they apply them, I will see that money back.

I applied $70 of reward zone coupons - I better not lose that!
I'll be returning mine this weekend. Unfortunately, no best buy within 50 miles has more in stock...
# 6 Re: Return to Bestbuy
I just called my Best Buy and they have 7 in stock of the 16GB - which is the unit I got and will exchange.

Check your receipt.
I think the scam that Best Buy does is reducing the price of the product by your reward zone certs.
So if I used $10, the iTouch shows up as costing me $389 instead of $399.
This way the cash given back will be the $389.

I work for Best Buy, and am wondering. How the hell is that a scam?

i spent $329 on my Touch ($399 - $70 in coupons). If they give me back only $329 I've lost $70.
# 10 Re: Return to Bestbuy
i returned it to a Best Buy in New York for the screen issue. But instead of the no-questions-asked policy i've read about, they took my unit over to the Geek Squad for a few minutes to "see if the owner damaged" the iPod on purpose. I thought it was awfully strange.
They couldnt repeat the issue, probably because i erased everything before returning it and they didn't have any dark videos to check.
# 11 Re: Return to Bestbuy
Once returned the Reward zone Certs will go back onto your Reward Zone account. At leats that's what they told me to tell customers when they returned items. I'm not sure how long it takes to reappear in your account, nor do I know what happens if you have internet or snail mail coupon receiving.
If it was within the 30 days they should not have taken it over to the Geek Squad, I never did and usually j8ust passed the returns through and if there was an issue that was not replicating but the customer was repeating there was an issue I would just do it so it went back to the big return warehouse and not let it go back to the floor, worst thing to do is to let a potentially faulty product go back to the floor when it has been returned because of an "un-reproducable" problem.

Although geeksquad is very useful I hate going there. They make you feel so guilty if they do not find the problem that you are describing. I always feel like I have to prove it to them and most of the time they act like it was my fault, customer service these days:shake:

Hmm, let's work through some logic.
If I had a $50 gift card, the receipt would probably show...
Ipod $399
GC -$50
If I used $50 Reward Certs...
Ipod $349
That make it crystal clear?
By that logic, if I return it, not only do I lose the certs, I also lose any price protection benefit.
If it walks like a duck, smells like a duck, its a scam.
Now, if what the person that said those certs go back on my account is true, I'll be happy.

I hate geeksquad. They wanted to charge me just to figure out what the problem was with my computer. If they couldn't figure out my problem, they would keep the money. So I said , "To hell with you, I'll get a real geek at school to fix the whole thing for 10 bucks!."

No one forced you to use the $50 coupons. If you were to read on the certificate, it states that the $50 comes off the purchase price, not the total.
But I'm kind of in the same boat. I bought a Zune when I first got hired with $40 in RZ certificates. I got the Product Protection Plan, and since the battery doesn't hold a full charge anymore, I'm going to bring it in and get a store credit. But I'm only going to be getting $210 + tax. And I could sure be using that extra $40, because I'll probably end up getting the Touch. But you don't see me complaining.
# 16 Re: Return to Bestbuy
Nobody forced me to do anything.
Nobody forced me to use the $50 gift cards either.
Doesn't change the fact that I earned $50 of store dollars.
Force me to spend it at the store, I have no problem with that but don't tell me they evaporate when I use them.
If I give you 2 apples and an orange for your pineapple, and I return it as defective, I expect 2 apples and an orange back.
Why do I lose the certs if Best Buy sells a defective product?
How is that my fault?
You can tell me all day, tough luck and live with it, it still doesn't change the fact that it is a scam.

I hear you-I had the same thing happen to me at Circuit City. I had $70 worth of their "rewards" and used them to buy a $200 wireless keyboard. Well, about a week after I bought it they dropped the price by $50. I went to get my money back, and they said they couldn't refund me anything since I had already paid less than $150. I argued with them but they basically said my certificates weren't like gift cards, and were considered "coupons", and I had already reduced the price below what I would now be paying. So, I essentially lost $50 of my rewards that I had earned. Best Buy was/is the same way-I paid for something almost in full with reward points one time, had to return it, and they said I couldn't get any of my points back. In other words, tough luck. So I don't even bother with their "rewards" programs anymore, despite what anyone might claim, they are pretty much a scam.

That's why many of us use them for things like video games and DVDs... things we can't/won't return.

if this is true i'm out $70. this sucks. i suppose i can still do an exchange? of course they won't have any in stock... i can't believe this... shouldn't the points just go back into your reward zone account ?

Don't accept a refund, make sure they either give you full store credit or have them notify you when new stock comes in to swap out.
If they jerk me around with my $10, I'll keep returning Touches until I get an absolutely perfect one, or they give me my full refund.
Either that or consider the $10 a rental, return it on the 29th day and buy it from Amazon tax and shipping free.

ok i went to best buy and had no problems. they took it back no questions asked, although the geeks and customer service people wanted to see it since they hadn't gotten any in at all (i returned it to a different best buy). i had left on a photo and a short video with the grayscale thing to show them the problem. they just wanted to play with the device - they didn't care that i was returning it.
also, my best buy reward dollars were credited back to my reward account. i was told that i would receive new coupons in about a week or so.
best buy retains my loyalty.
p.s. costco said they are getting them in any day now, and the price is $389.

Cool. I now take back all my complaining about Best Buy.
