Has Apple contacted e or any othter site?

I am curious as to whether Apple has contacted iLounge regarding the iTouch screen issues. This is certainly a well-respected site, and I'm sure Apple execs have read the product review (and hopefully they've also seen the forum posts from their own disgruntled customers).

I returned my own iTouch to the Apple store yesterday, with great regret. I wanted to love this product, truly I did. I was disappointed to hear about both the poor battery life and the paltry storage capacity, but I talked myself into buying one anyway because I really wanted the nice screen for portable video viewing...and then the video quality turned out to be bad. There's very little to recommend the iTouch until Apple fixes this problem.

It seems to me, though, that sites like iLounge would be the ideal place for Apple to test possible solutions, poll users, or just generally do damage control.

So have they attempted to do any of that?

I highly doubt Apple would that as it would definitely risk leakage and confirmation of the problem and their fault. If Apple were to contact iLounge and tel them something, they may just as well announce it on their site or make an official announcement to everyone, which is what they are more than likely to do that cover iLounge. Though I feel that Apple will be resolving this problem subtly, unless they purposely made bad screens for video to get people to get the iPhone.

Considering recently made iPhones have also had similar screen issues, I doubt it was done intentionally. The software crippling, yes, but not poor quality screens.

They have? Can you provide some linkage to back that up?

There was report about iPhone screens loosing sensitivity a month back. Apple took care of the manner by quickly replacing the faulty items and even went as far as contacting people on forums who wrote that they had problems with their screen.

It's not uncommon for companies to contact people on forums. My HP laptop was over heating a while ago and I mentioned it on notebookreview where a person from HP contacted me and got my baby sent in for repair.

Faulty touchscreens losing sensitivity has nothing to do with the viewing quality of the screen. If the iPhone recently had shipments that had faulty screens in the sense that they have the negative problem too, then thats ok, as it proves that the touch does use the same screen as the iphone, but the fact is, iphone doesn't have black negatives at all, and no one has seen any such thing yet. Thus, touch uses a different screen, which really stinks.

Pardon me? He claimed that iPhones are having the same screen problems as iPod Touch. I asked for some linkage so I could check it out for myself. How is that starting an argument?

Anyways, back to the topic, I agree with Surf Monkey as no iPhone user I know has gotten faulty screens. The links were put up, and though they were touch screen problems, did not have the negative effect or anything, and appears to not be related to recent iPhone shipments, but older ones as well, so I think its safe to say that the two are not interrelated.

toothpaste, its OK to be annoying, but don't be unreasonably annoying to Surf Monkey, at least not in this thread, as he has stated before, he has done nothing wrong, so stop flaming.

For starters, MY iPhone I purchased last weekend has the same screen issue as the iPod Touch that I exchanged it for.

Now you DO know iPhone users with the faulty screens. You can thank me later.

Its not only apple, there are always problems with any newly release products. Most of the time they get fixed and the customers are happy, hopefully this will be the case in the iPod Touch

xbox 360 anyone? :D

Am sure there are a few Apple marketing reps going through these forums specially right after a new launch, there is really no need to "directly contact iLounge."

Read the do's&don'ts from your auto insurance form? First thing it tells u is, NEVER ADMIT GUILT!

If this screen thing is widespread, they may end up doing a recall or s'thing but most likely they're gonna quietly fix it. That's the norm with new products.

U first adopters... I come to think you really love the pain. :)

Tell me about it. It brings up memories about my Panasonic X70. I was probably one of the first people here in Sweden with it. Mine was from the first batch which came 2-3 months before Edited to remove profanity about it.

I loved it, it was an amazing phone but having to return it to the retailer 3 times became too much and after a year or so I asked for a replacement unit.

Just so you know, I wasn't questioning your veracity, just looking for some confirmation that iPhone was experiencing the same screen issues because this is the first I've heard of it. Luckily, mine isn't doing that. I'm pretty disappointed to see that the faulty screens aren't limited to the Touch though. Shame on Apple (and/or Apple's screen vendor).
