My iPoT fingerprint Mod...

i hate the backs of all ipods so i did that stainless steel lookin trick with the sponge and it came out pretty nicely. it hid the existing scratches and no longer attracts fingerprints. good stuff good stuff.

What's this trick that you do with the sponge? What do you do with it?

THe first pic reminds me of iPhone kind of backing. Looks nice.

Brushed aluminum look.

I was planning to do so, but did you leave the apple logo untouched?

IMO it looks better when the whole back has the brushed look.

edit*

you take the rough side of a scotch brite and just get workin.

the sponge trick is where u tape the plastic parts of the ipod and the parts u dont want scratched and then use the back of a sponge (green tougher side) and basically scrub in a downward motion for like 20 minutes to put a zillion micro scratches to give it the stainless steel effect. im pretty happy wit it

OH! I see what you did now! That is really amazing. Never would have thought of that. I think I might do the same for my unit too. Thanks a lot for posting this! That really does give it a more cooler feel to it.

I think your cam is fine for taking pics. Though the focus is a bit off, perhaps if you can take a pic with it being slightly farther away so the cam can focus on it, it will look clearer. Reason why I say this is because the other things in your room like your pants look very sharp and crisp.

That's hot!

One question though do you get little like metal particles on your hands from holding it or is it pretty clean?

wow! I think I'm going to do that once I get a Touch. I hate the shiny back.

Did you use normal scotchbrite scouring pads to do the work? I hope it turns out alright when I do mine. Perhaps I'll use rubber gloves when I do it. Can't wait to see the new pics

Aren't you basically scratching the **** out of it? Wouldn't this void any chance you have a having to take the device back for an exchange?

Looks good...

Chances are, No. I would probably leave the serial number visible as well, But apple had never had a problem with this in the past.

Apple could technically argue that you damaged the product yourself by scratching it up, so it voids the warranty. Then you could potentially come up with a lame excuse such as you wanted to exchange because you got an iPod Touch with the back of an iPhone. XD

Scratches aren't damaging.

PLEASE don't start that "iPoT" crap around here. Call it the touch or the iPod touch or EVEN the iTouch is preferable to "iPoT".

I'm a fan of "iPodT" myself.

I think he was referring to Apple's viewpoint on returning a product you purposely defaced, otherwise known as damaged/damaging.

I like your idea though man, I think I'll give my 5G a good rub :)

I don't really like the sound of it, but at least it gives the Touch some sort of identity instead of training wheels.

surely he can call his $400 personal property whatever he chooses.

besides, veering off the topic like this can be destructive to a good old fashioned, thought provoking thread, just like this one.

I personally don't like the "iPoT" name. Sorry for veering off topic in this very very thought provoking thread:shake:

iPod touch, iPod Touch, Touch, touch, iTouch... any of those are more acceptable and understandable than iPoT. iPoT sounds like Apple made a toilet... something you take a crap in.
