Does it cost money to use the iTunes Wi-Fi Store?
If youre in a participating Starbucks, the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPhone will have even more to offer. Tap the Starbucks button to find out what song is playing in the caf, then buy it instantly. You can browse Starbucks playlists to discover new music while waiting for your mocha. Access the millions of songs available in the iTunes Store. No connection fee or login is required.
This is taken from Apple's website regarding Starbucks and the iTunes Wi-Fi Store. When they say "no connection fee," does that mean that when you access the store outside of Starbucks, you have to pay? If so, does anyone know what the fee is?

It means that if you want to the iTunes Store or Starbucks Store at Starbucks, you don't have to pay the 2.99 or whatever it is they charge customers for the wifi they have there.

They say no connection fee because if you bring a laptop to Starbucks, there's a fee to use t-mobile's hot spot wifi service.

Yeah, as in its just like any other internet site. Buying music still costs money though.

Yeah... Starbucks still charges for WiFi access. That's why other places are better for your roaming WiFi needs. Don't bother with Starbucks.
Beaners has better coffee, and free WiFi.
Wendy's (the fast food place) has free WiFi.
Just about any suburb will reveal at least one house that doesn't secure their WiFi.
College campuses vary, but you should have some luck.
Most decent libraries are allowing free WiFi to patrons.
Amazingly enough, a lot of Denny's Restaurants have free WiFi, as do Big Boy and lots of others.
It's not hard to find free WiFi if you look for it. Please, don't give Starbucks or T-mobile your money for WiFi! McDonald's is the same way. If we stop using it and paying for it, they'll eventually make it free because they'll realize that we're going to other places for the free WiFi and that we buy food while we're there.
While I do think the Starbucks-iTunes deal is kind of neat (buy the song that's playing right now, and see the list of songs played in the last hour and buy them if you want), I find Starbucks' attitude on WiFi for their customers to be archaic and greedy.

Most of the bars in my town have free unprotected WiFi. High end food places have free WiFi...fast food places have free WiFi... It is actually hard to avoid a free WiFi zone in my town.
