Memory Space Question

Okay, I'm sure this has been asked before, but I have a question.

I am planning on buying an iPod touch to replace my fourth generation iPod. I told myself I'd wait until the widescreen iPod came out and now it has.

My question - do you think I will need the 8GB or 16GB?

I have only a little over 2GB of music. My collection will grow, but not too drastically. I recently cut back a ton of my music and trimmed the stuff I don't listen to, so space for music isn't a problem.

I listen to two podcasts and one video podcast a week.

I haven't had a video iPod so I haven't ever watched videos on a portable player, but I plan on doing it once I've purchased the touch. How large are typical videos?

I hope I don't sound like a total n00b here. I just want to invest wisely. My pocketbook is saying 8GB, but I'm not sure if it'll be enough for all my music, a few podcasts, and a couple of videos (full length, TV episode, music video, etc?).

Any advice.

(Sorry if this is in the wrong place...I thought this would be the best place).

When in doubt always go for the higher capacity.

I would get the 8gb and then spend the extra money you were going to spend on the 16gb for some good head phones.

That depends on if you think you will start using your iPod for video. I love watching a show during lunch at work and always have a few gigs of video on my iPod with Video. Because of that I ordered the 16GB version.

The rule of thumb is to get the most capacity you can afford. Most people will fill up whatever size device they buy much quicker than they think.

Hmm...that does sort of put me in a spot. Some say 8GB, others say 16GB.

How much space does a full-length movie take up?
How much space does a 30-min TV show take up?

Full Length will be about 650MB..so 8GB would get you roughly 10 or 11 full length videos.
