Converting songs for Shuffle

All my songs are stored in Lossless format and I have "convert to 128 AAC" set to yes. After iTunes 7.4.2.4 starts to convert the song it hangs. Any ideas?

Hangs or only takes lot's of time?

I did that conversion last time... around 50% more songs (I rip in 192 kbps Mp3) but it takes hours...
